This series consists of the records that were generated by Bank Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and the State Bank and its Branches during the liquidation process of the State Bank and the placement of the assets of the banks in the hands of three Commissioners and one Assistant in 1846. The signature of Commissioner Francis Lyon, who became sole Commissioner sometime in 1846, and the signature of Assistant Commissioner Henry B. Holcombe appear on almost all of the records. Among the records that pertain to the closing of the State Bank and its Branches at Montgomery, Mobile, Decatur, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa are lawsuits against debtors, lawsuits against the Bank, lists of lawsuits and short descriptions, financial reports (statements), lists of court fees, records pertaining to the sale of land, cost bills of the circuit court, correspondence from Francis Lyon, Henry B. Holcombe, and the State Auditor Joel Riggs, and official bonds of Bank Commissioners.
